Most people vastly overcomplicate the process of how to start an online coaching business and start making consistent sales. Once you understand why this happens you’ll see it everywhere… and you won’t be able to unsee it. And that’s when the game can start to change for you.

How to Start an Online Coaching Business | The Moment I Finally Started Getting Traction
I started to notice: the person telling you educational content is outdated, is a storytelling coach. That person telling you that podcasts are the way to go, sells a podcast course. The person telling you short form video is the way to grow has a program on how to grow with Reels and TikToks.
This is NOT a bad thing, and I’m not knocking any of these coaches — I’m simply pointing out what most people won’t tell you: If you want to know how to start an online coaching business, there are a million and one ways to grow your online business and 99% of them will work. There is no ‘wrong way’ or ‘right way’ to grow your online business… there’s simply what’s wrong and right for you.

Instead of chasing every “next big thing,” I decided to take everything I’d learned, lay it out on the kitchen table, and create my own system. One that worked for me.
Within weeks of creating that system, I made my first $5K in sales. Ninety days later, I hit $20K months. Since then, I’ve scaled to multiple 7-figures, but the core foundation hasn’t changed: a simple, repeatable system.
How to Start an Online Coaching Business Step 1: Finding a Profitable Niche
Before you can grow your online coaching business, you must get clear on who you want to help, and the problems you want to solve as it relates to what you want to sell.
I call this your profitable niche.
Once you know your niche, you layer in your own transformation story and amplify it with your content strategy to stand out as an expert and authority in any market.
How to Start an Online Coaching Business Step 2: Develop Your Paid Offers
Once I was clear on my niche, I developed two paid offers:
First, I developed what I call my ‘end game' offer — this is a main offer you can sell for anywhere from $97 all the way up to $997. It can be a digital course, a group coaching program, or even a 1:1 service.
Once I knew what my end game offer would be, I developed a low ticket introductory offer that would allow people to get a taste of what it was like to work with me. I wanted this offer to absolutely BLOW PEOPLE AWAY with value — leaving them to say “Oh my gosh, if she is giving this much value at this price… I can’t imagine what her full program must be like”
To create my low ticket offer, I took a piece of my overall framework and sold for $17.
To this day I still have people in my audience who talk about that program and how that was their first introduction to me and that’s why they’re still working with me 7 years later.
I’m not going to tell you what it is, because what it is is not important.
What IS important is that I created a program that solved a burning problem for my ideal client. I saw their pain points and I created one bite sized resource that would solve that pain for them. That’s why it worked so well.

How to Start an Online Coaching Business Step 3: Automating Your Sales
I created a powerful PDF resources on a topic that my audience really wanted help with, that was aligned with this low ticket offer and used it to create what I call a freebie micro offer sales funnel.
This sales funnel consists of an opt in page where people can get the PDF resource for free in exchange for their name and email. Then, on the thank you page you give them a one-time opportunity to get the low ticket offer at a special price.
The first week I put this funnel together it generated $228 in sales. Week 2 it generated $1,734. Week 3 was $2,193. I eventually scaled this one funnel up to over $10,000 a month… with nothing except this one $17 offer.

To sell the main end game offer I created a webinar funnel.
A webinar is a free video training where you give your audience a TON of value, then sell your main offer at the end. It includes a series of emails to warm your audience up and remind them to attend, the actual webinar itself, and then a series of sales emails encouraging them to enroll by a specific deadline.
So now you have 2 funnels: a freebie funnel that sells a low ticket digital offer, and a webinar funnel that sells your main offer.
How to Start an Online Coaching Business | Your $5K Month Checklist
Once you have your profitable niche, offers and funnels — it's time to get to work! Here's exactly what I would do to grow my online coaching business to $5K months quickly with just 2 offers and 2 automated funnels.
- Choose one social media platform to focus on and post there at least 1x per day. Create content that speaks directly to the person and pain points related to your profitable niche.
- Use your freebie micro offer funnel as the call to action in 80% of your content.
- Schedule a time to do your webinar LIVE one time each month. Promote the webinar one week in advance to your email list and through your social media content.

Bringing It All Together
Here's the hard truth: if you're serious about hitting consistent $5K months in your online coaching business quickly, you MUST find a way to eliminate the busy work that keeps you stuck at the starting line.
You need to know your niche.
You need paid offers that give people a way to work with you.
And you need funnels that drive the sales to those paid offers 24/7/365.
Once those pieces are in place your main focus should be driving traffic to those funnels.
This is the foundation of everything you do in your business. If you take one thing away from this post it's that by choosing to focus on the few things that will have the biggest impact on your bottom line, you give yourself the freedom to create anything you can dream of!
