Before we dive in to the 7 ways to grow your email list, I need to mention email service providers. Like most people, when we first launched our business we didn’t have a ton of extra funds… so we chose an email provider based on price, more than features.
Within 10 months we’d added thousands of subscribers to our email list… our business was doing well over $20K a month in revenue, and we had very much outgrown the capabilities of our email service provider.
We had no choice but to switch providers, migrate all of our subscribers, lists, emails and data over to a new platform… and let me just tell you, it was a logistical nightmare.
In the process we lost thousands of subscribers, and our revenue ended up taking a serious hit while we frantically worked to get everything set up on the new platform.
Something we always teach our students is to build your business from the beginning as if you are already having $10,000 months. Because with the right profit system in place, that day will come faster than you think… and if you have a ton of inferior softwares and platforms that you’ve duct taped together, it’s going to be a headache to untangle… and could seriously hinder and slow your growth.

Grow Your Email List | Create a Freebie Funnel
This strategy has been the backbone of our business from day 1. A freebie funnel is a free downloadable resource you give your audience, in exchange for their name and email address…. And we love them, because once you have your freebie funnel created and set up properly, it won’t just generate leads, but will also generate sales for your business on autopilot.
We have freebies that are 3-4 years old that still bring new leads into our business every single day. I’m talking hundreds of leads a month, from work we did years ago and haven’t touched since. Once you have a profitable freebie funnel in place, you can easily pour gasoline on the fire and run ads to it as well… which will grow your email list even more quickly!
Grow Your Email List | Create a Free Value Facebook Group
We did an entire video about this, which you can go watch here. But by creating a free value Facebook group and setting it up correctly, it can actually connect you with hundreds of new leads every single month… without any extra work on your part.
The key is to set up membership approval questions, where you offer to send people your freebie in exchange for giving you their email address. You can use the Chrome Extension called Group Leads to automatically add these people to your email list… so that almost everyone who joins your group, also goes on your email list instantly.

Grow Your Email List | Link to Your Group & Freebies… Everywhere!
Add a link in your bio to your free resources and Facebook group across ALL of your social media accounts. Some people will have more interest in your freebies, while others will be more interested in joining your group. By using a service like Linktree to create mutiple links in your bio, you can capture people and add them to your email list, regardless of which resources they are most interested in!
Grow Your Email List | Host an Online Event or Masterclass
When we first launched our personal brand, we hosted a free masterclass on a new topic within our niche every single month. In the beginning we only had around 10 people register… but after a few months, it started to catch on, and people started sharing our free masterclasses with their friends.
In these classes we actually didn’t sell anything… which, looking back was probably a mistake… but even so, this is a great way to boost your confience with presenting, and grow your email list for free at the same time, so that when you DO start selling, you are already off to a strong start.
Grow Your Email List | Use CTAs
YES on social media you need to be giving value, but in exchange for that value you also get to tell your viewers how they can connect with you further and take the next step with you. Always include a CTA in your posts & videos. Tell people where they can go to download your freebie or join your free group, which, as you now know, will get them on your email list! We have always used Freebie Funnels as our primary tool to attract, capture and convert more clients and customers for our business. And because we strategically share our group within those freebies and on our thank you pages, over 80% of our group members have joined our group through this strategy.
Grow Your Email List | Encourage People to Forward & Share
Include a social sharing button on the thank you page of your freebies, so when someone opts in they can choose to share the opt in page with the friends and followers. You can also include a PS in your emails, inviting people to forward them to a friend… if that email contains a link to a blog post or YouTube video where you promote one of your freebies, that will often results in new subscribers! Encourage people to share your Facebook group with friends as well, which will also grow your list.
Include a resource page at the end of your freebie where you tell people how to take the next step and connect with you further. Include a link to your group, and don’t forget to point out the benefits to them for becoming a member!
Also, after someone opts in to your freebie, you can include a link to your group as the next step… both on your thank you page AND your freebie delivery page!
Grow Your Email List | Look for Online Networking Opportunities
Look for online networking opportunities where you can promote your freebies and your group! Many Facebook Groups allow you to promote your business on certain days, or within certain posts. When those group members also align with your target market, they can be a lead generating gold mine! We’ve often received hundreds of new email subscribers by sharing our freebie in a Facebook group ONE time. Just make sure you read the group rules first, so you don’t get kicked out.
