Social Media Post Ideas | Get More Leads + Sales With This Call to Action Formula!

Raise your hand if you’re showing up on social media… giving value… providing inspiration… but still not getting the leads & sales you want. 

Yeah, that used to be us too. 

And if you’re out there doing live videos, creating reels or tiktoks, or giving people value in your stories but NOT generating any leads, you’re likely making the same mistake we used to make, when first starting on social media. 

NOT including a strong call to action in your posts. 

Something we hear from our clients and team members all the time is that they don’t want to include a call to action at the end of their posts, because they don’t want to come across as salsey or spammy to their audience. 

But here’s the thing: if you’re giving GOOD VALUE, your audience is going to want to take action! And if you don’t give them an invitation to reach out or take that next step with you, they’re going to take that action somewhere else… either from someone else they follow who DOES include a CTA, or from their good friend Google.

Value Is Important, But You Deserve to Get Paid

When it comes to building a personal brand and growing your business on social, value is important. 

Your audience will follow you because the info you share is valuable to them in some way… and if you don’t give them a logical next step for how to get MORE value from you, you are actually doing them a disservice. 

Today we want to share WHEN to include a call to action, HOW to structure your call to action, AND give you 3 call to action ideas you start using immediately in your next social media post. So let’s dive in:

When to Include a Call to Action on Social Media

The rules for including a call to action vary depending on what social media platform you’re using. On platforms like Instagram and TikTok you want to include a call to action in EVERY SINGLE POST… because you never know which piece of content is going to get pushed out to new potential followers, and you want to provide a call for them to connect with you further if they like your content.

On platforms like Facebook, we recommend including a call to action at the end of every value post & promotional post, and in your lifestyle posts when relevant.  

How To Word Your Call to Action for Best Results

When creating your post, ask yourself 2 questions:

What is the PURPOSE of this post? In other words, what do you want it to DO for your business?

And then, What would would be the next logical step for someone to take after reading this post that would move them closer to that goal?

Here’s a simple formula for your call to action: If you ______________ then ______________________. (Watch the video above for some examples!)

This formula works because it calls in the rule of reciprocity… you’ve given value to the person watching or reading your content, and in return, you’re asking them to take an action.

Remember you want your call to action to be congruent with whatever information you’re sharing. A call to action can be as simple as a call to like, comment or share a post… a call to follow your account. Or you can be more direct and include a call to visit the link in your bio or reach out to you for more info.

On Facebook I keep it more conversational… If you got value from this post, feel free to share it with a friend! 

When sharing your products or business on TikTok, calling people to check out the link in your bio to make a purchase works great! Again, on Facebook you’ll want to call people to comment if they want more info, or send you a message to learn more.

Bringing It All Together

By showing up and giving value on social, you have earned the right to call your audience to take action! And, like we said earlier… if you don’t, people are going to take action on what you shared anyway… they’re just going to take action with someone else! 

Including a call to action is a great way to grow your following, increase your engagement, and initiate conversations with your audience. And on certain platforms it’s also a great way to turn strangers and followers into autopilot sales!
